Does your company build with cypress logs?
No. Cypress built tiki huts are very common and many other builders try to promote that it is authentic. The truth is that Cypress rots very quickly. Native Design only builds with Pressure Treated Timber which is rated to be a 35 year product. Time and time again we've re-thatched tiki huts that were built by others built with Cypress that are only 5 years old - and the cypress poles are already starting to rot! This is a significant difference. If you're making the investment of a tiki hut, and there is NO DIFFERENCE in cost, why even consider building with something that is going to rot in only a few years?
How long will the thatch roofing last?
It depends. Typically Natural Thatched Roofing lasts approximately 5-7 years, but wind, sunlight (U.V.), roof pitch, and branches touching the roof, can all factor into the lifespan. Call us if you notice any small holes appearing and we can possibly patch and repair, otherwise it might be time to rethatch.
What Does Rethatch Mean?
Re-thatch is the craft of reattaching new palm fronds. If you have an existing tiki hut that needs a new roof, we will remove the old palm fronds, prep the surface and inspect the frame. We then replace with new, fresh, green sable palm thatch that will look great and give you years of enjoyment. Call us today for a free estimate.
Do You Offer Fire Retardency?
Yes. Most restaurants and commercial spaces will be required to have it applied, but sometimes residential homeowners request it for piece of mind. We apply a "Class-A" Fire Retardant, along with a pesticide to protect your thatch longer. Call for pricing and further details.
How Much Do Tiki Huts Cost?
There are many variables to arrive at an accurate quote. This of course includes size, location, access, what all upgrades are included, and design. Typically standard sized tiki huts are approximately 8x12 or 10x10 and usually come in somewhere under $3,000. Slightly larger sized huts can be 12x18 - just call us for a free quote. We're a great value at an affordable cost.

There are many! We take great pride in building your tropical retreat and we work hard to see that you are extremely happy. With us you'll always get a return phone call. We also build our huts with Heavy Lags and screws - not hammer and nails as most all others do. Nails become unsecure and work themselves free. We build with Treated Timber - not untreated Cypress. Cypress easily rots and is eaten by termites.
